The effect of fineness on concrete

The effect of fineness on concrete

Most of our country now uses cement grinding. The finer the cement, the more particles it has. If the hydration rate of the cement is to be enhanced, the specific surface area of the cement can be increased, and the initial strength can be increased. If the particle size of the particles is less than 1 μm, the particles can be fully hydrated within one day, although it has no obvious effect on the later strength. However, it can greatly affect the heat of hydration, concrete self-shrinkage, drying shrinkage, etc. in the initial period. The reason for this is that the finer particles are able to hydrate more quickly, producing large amounts of dry, shrinkable gels and hydrates; the faster hydration of the grout particles allows for a rapid release of heat. The reduced content of coarse particles results in a greatly reduced volume of unhydrated particles, which has an impact on the long-term performance of the concrete. The design life of the current concrete structure is about 60 years. According to data, because there are too many ultra-fine cement particles, the strength of the concrete can only reach 40% of the expected value after 50 years. It can be seen that due to the increase in the specific surface area of cement, it is difficult to effectively adapt to the same high-efficiency water-reducing agent. In order to reduce the loss of fluidity, more high-efficiency water-reducing agent needs to be added, which not only greatly increases the amount of cement used in concrete, but also It will affect the frost resistance, crack resistance and durability of concrete, and greatly increase the construction cost. As shown in Table 2 and Figure 1.

With the increase of ball milling time, the particle fineness of ordinary silicon cement gradually increases and its surface area increases, and the initial fluidity of the concrete mixture gradually decreases, and the initial fluidity of the cement without grinding is 200mm. Due to the increase of curing time, the hydration of cement concrete with different fineness gradually becomes stronger, and the compressive strength of concrete gradually increases.
